Breast Reconstruction & Augmentation

Specializing in the Art of Breast Reconstruction

The majority of Dr. Gordley’s practice is focused on the surgical restoration of the breast during and after breast cancer. Breast reconstruction after mastectomy is becoming increasingly common as more women become educated about their options surrounding breast cancer treatment. Sound oncologic treatment of the cancer is, of course, the primary goal.

Breast Surgery in The Woodlands

There is life after breast cancer, and multiple studies have proven an increase in quality of life after mastectomy if the patient undergoes breast reconstruction. Although there are several basic options for reconstructing a breast, the timing and choices surrounding reconstruction can quickly become complicated when considering the cancer treatment plan.

Dr. Gordley is passionate about women rebuilding their lives post breast cancer treatment and this was obvious even during the initial consultation.

Breast Reconstruction Options

Creating a unique plan that addresses both cancer treatment and reconstruction is vital to a successful outcome. Dr. Gordley will help to guide you through this complex process as smoothly as possible.

The three basic options for breast reconstruction are elaborated upon below. Please know that not every patient is a good candidate for every procedure, and that your reconstruction will be tailor-fit to your exact situation.

The final finishing touches of breast reconstruction are the nipple reconstruction (which is done in the office), and tattooing of the areola. Dr. Gordley also utilizes the services of a talented local permanent makeup artist, Christine Mastriani, to complete his reconstructions with a natural-appearing areola.

Aesthetic Breast Procedures

Breast surgery includes surgical procedures for both men and women that change the overall appearance of the breasts. This can include augmentation of the breasts for larger, smaller, symmetrical, or more pleasing to the eye.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation serves to help women desiring to balance their figure in order to improve how they look in clothes, augment their self-confidence, and in some cases reverse the changes associated with pregnancy and weight loss.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

As a result of changes over time, accompanied by changes after breastfeeding and weight loss, the breasts begin to sag or droop. This gives them a more flattened, elongated shape.

Breast Reduction

Overly large breasts are a significant problem for many women. Not only do they detract from the quality of life by causing back/neck pain, shoulder strap grooving, and constant skin irritation, but they also negatively impact a woman’s self-image.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Extra breast tissue can be the source of much embarrassment for males, particularly adolescent males. Not only are these often young men forced to wear large baggy shirts and hunch over forward to hide their chests, they also tend to shy away from social situations.
